“I know it could not happen, without your love…” I Want To Thank You by Alicia Myers

Cutting right to it today.
IF by chance you have no idea who this fella in the picture above is, let me introduce you. Zo! is the brilliant musician and producer behind the whole Zo! Presents… line of albums, as well as Zo! & Tigallo Love The 80’s. He also has a list of collabs with artists ranging from Slum Village to Platinum Pied Pipers and most recently, one of my favs, The Foreign Exchange. And peoples, I haven’t even listed everything! Let me tell you while adding to my collection and learning more as I go along, I have not been disappointed one bit. Yesterday was a day soulsters were anticipating, the release of Zo!’s follow up to …Just Visiting, …Just Visiting Too. Ladies and gents, the album has been on repeat all day long. It is an alluring collection of covers that will not be leaving your cerebral cortex for a MINUTE. And no, I’m not telling you which songs were covered! Listen and you will find out! With the likes of Sy Smith, Yahzarah, Carlitta Durand, Phonte and Darien Brockington on the mix – you have absolutely NO idea. And to make your day, week, month and year, the album is an amazing FREE.99!! Yes, no joke. The tight ass production, phenomenally orgasmic singing, hard work and passion is all packaged and given to you as a free download. Here’s Zo! giving thanks for the outpouring of love regarding the album:
And you know I wouldn’t leave you high and dry like that. Click this wonderful little link here and share in the album that will bring nothing but sunshine to your week.

Tonight I headed up to Highline Ballroom to catch the Heston & Laura Izibor show. Heston opened the show and SHUT IT DOWN. He told me, “every time I hit NYC, it’s all love…” and best believe he is enjoying every minute of it (and so am I, he gives the BEST hugs in the world!). Born in Dominica (you know I ALWAYS have to big up my West Indian massive!), he grew up with the sounds and love for Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Bob Marley (to name a few) and each influence is unquestionably heard every single time he indulges us with that mellifluous voice. I will not say too much about tonight, as I will be writing my review on the show tomorrow. Still, a lot of you are aware that I have spoken about the fellow quite a few times previously. Take it in confidence when I mention that when Maxwell was away, Heston’s album Storyteller kept me in CHECK and quite happy. The top three tracks on his album that serve it to me right are “No Way No How,” “Sumthing In The Water” and “Brand New U.” I guarantee, you will fall in love if you have not fallen already. You can check Heston’s MySpace page here and you can find his bio here on Soultracks. Here’s a superb vid of “Sumthing In The Water” *sigh*:
You know the deal, I will post the link to the review once it’s up on the respective site.
See y’all soon…
